UVU ATHLETICS MURAL
The focus of this project was to create an art piece that athletes, donors, and graduating students would pass as they walked in the tunnels next to the basketball arena. The two walls were in the tunnels next to the basketball court. Because it was in a dark and industrial area, I decided to compliment it with a bright graffiti style.
For this piece, I wanted to show the ambiguity of student roles. Athletes can be into theater, math students can be artists, artists can be into politcs, and political science students can be athletes. To show this, I used pictures of athletes that aren’t the typical collegiate athlete. I made the design style gritty and some of the photos more vague. The graffiti style calls back to back to when we were just kids playing in the street; we were all on the same level. We were all connected. I showed that connection with a line flowing throughout the composition and intertwining with each person.
